carson.shWandering Carderock at six in the morning. There's no gate, and "park policy" is closed at dark but if the sun is rising that counts as light, right?
Shot at 50mm 5" f/13 ISO 100, with my camera propped up on a rock
I was worried with the clouds the sunrise would be totally uninteresting, but as it got a little higher a few of clouds lit up pink.
There's a section marked as an "overlook" on google maps that I was going for, but turns out it was just a part where the trail cut down to the level of the river. Not fantastic for sunrise photographs.
Did some nice rock climbing as well. Met some guys who had been there since 4:30am. Spent a couple hours projecting "Swollen Head" 5.11c (which felt doable with some pinch training - so I must not be following the route, frankly).
50mm 8" f/18 ISO 100. This was after the sun had risen a bit more and gone behind a cloud.
I also took a picture of this bird. This was before the sun rose, 1/30 f/1.8 50mm ISO 6400, with no denoising only chromatic aberration control. The grain hides the fact that you can't see anything. I also love the vignetting from this lens at f/1.8 and have not been able to replicate it with darktable's vignette tool, though that may be stockhold syndrome from staring at un-lens-corrected images in darktable for too long.
